BRANFORD, Conn. (Sept. 1, 2015) – When Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven was searching for support for their Closer to Free Ride fundraiser on Sept. 12, 2015, thoughts naturally turned to a locally-created protein-infused water called trimino™.

“We read about it and were impressed by its 31,000 Facebook ‘Likes,’ saw it sampled at a number of local sporting events, and sold in hundreds of supermarkets and convenience stores statewide,” said Jessica Scheps, Ride Coordinator.

“When Miami Bay Beverage Company agreed to provide one bottle for each of 1,500 rider goodie bags, and offer it at the finish line, we knew we had a healthy beverage for our cyclists that goes way beyond ordinary water,” Scheps says.

As Peter Dacey, CEO of tri mino, puts it, “tri mino Beats Water, Everyday.”
The 2015 Closer to Free Ride starts and ends at the Yale Bowl. Riders will follow three routes with distances of 25, 62.5 and 100 miles. In 2014, the average rider raised more than $1,000 for a total $1.7 million, with all proceeds going directly to research and patient care.
tri mino Protein-Infused Water provides health benefits that water alone can’t. Its seven grams of whey protein help increase metabolism and curb appetite.  The functional beverage also helps restore and build lean muscle mass.
“Studies have shown that the proteins and vitamins in tri mino have positive effects on the immune system, cardiovascular health, cholesterol and blood pressure,” adds the brand’s Peter Dacey.
“tri mino is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of the Smilow Closer to Free Ride. Many of us have friends or loved ones afflicted by cancer. We honor and recognize the dedication of the riders and volunteers by providing them with the necessary fuel to hydrate and rejuvenate during and after the race. And we may have a surprise this year with a team of riders going the distance under the tri mino banner,” Dacey said.
Only 28 calories with zero sugar, carbs and caffeine, trimino is available
in 3,000 stores in 21 states in a variety of delicious natural fruit flavors.
