BRANFORD, Conn. (Dec. 15, 2014) – When three Connecticut businessmen, all fathers, introduced trimino™ a sugar-free protein-infused water this fall, their aim was to wean American children off sugary soft drinks. To help do this, they searched for an appropriate non-profit organization that believes as they do that the country’s youth are too sedentary and because of that, they’re too fat.

Today Miami Bay Beverage Co., based in Branford, Conn., announced its sponsorship of PHIT America, a two-year-old national educational campaign to combat the inactivity pandemic and obesity crisis which is seriously affecting health care costs in the U.S. The non-profit, started by the sports and fitness industry, is promoting grassroots sports programs and new federal legislation to influence Americans to be more active, fit and healthy (www.PHITAmerica.org).

The announcement was made by Peter Dacey, CEO of Miami Bay Beverage, whose trimino protein-infused water is available in over 1,500 locations in 12 states, and Jim Baugh, CEO and president of PHIT America.

Said Dacey, “Just look around any community in the U.S. You can see the obesity issue is a serious problem in every city and state.

“Almost 1 in 4 Americans are totally sedentary. We need to get America more active, fit and healthier in order to help them prevent and reduce health care costs,” he said.

“We’re proud to work with PHIT America to encourage active, healthy lifestyles. Together we’re introducing delicious trimino protein-infused water to the public through TV appearances, sampling at youth sports events, and support of our distributors’ involvement in their local communities,” Dacey said.

PHIT America has been enlisting participation of companies and organizations from the sports and fitness industry since January 2013 to achieve its objectives of education, advocacy, and fundraising for grassroots and PE programs.

Overall, there are more than 100 companies and organizations that have already committed to be PHIT America Alliance Sponsors, said PHIT’s Mike May, director of communications, who has been appearing on TV talk shows nationwide to “inspire people to perspire.”

“Simply Delicious” trimino protein-infused flavored water is powered by seven grams of high quality whey protein and 100 percent of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of vitamin B complex. It’s light and refreshing with no sugar, no carbohydrates, no caffeine or lactose, and only 28 calories per 16-oz. bottle.

It sells for a suggested retail price of $2.49. Gluten free, it comes in four delicious fruit flavors: Peach, Mixed Berry, Strawberry Lemonade, and Coconut Pineapple.
